Structural Refurbishment of Occupied High-Rise Tower Blocks

Crundale Tower and Bekesbourne Tower are 12 storey 1960's built residential blocks of flats situated in Orpington within the London Borough of Bromley, South East London.

UKG were retained in December 2015 to carry out the structural refurbishment of these two high rise tower blocks, which were both occupied.

Initially, we carried out a detailed survey of all brickwork and concrete surfaces to ascertain requirements of building fabric, submitted recommendations and then commenced the project which was completed in September 2016.

The project included the following:

• Removal of all existing surfaces by means of grit blasting.

• Identify, breakout and repair all defect areas of brickwork and concrete.

• Application of Sika Ferrogard 903+.

• Application of Sika Monotop 620 Levelling Mortar

• Application of Sikagard 550W Elastic to concrete

• Application of Sikagard 700s Aquastop to brickwork

• Application of Sika Premium Balcony system to all private balconies.

On completion, all of the above had a Sika 15 year Guarantee.
